I find it unconscionable that the District Attorney’s Office actually pays witnesses.
Whatever happened to issuing a subpoena and, if they don’t show up, arresting them for contempt of court? That’s the way it’s done in every other court in the country. Why would it be different in Clark County? And even if it’s legal to pay them to come to a meeting with the DA, why would the records be destroyed if this was a procedure that was on the up-and-up? Electronic records don’t take up any space.
