Letter to the editor:

Our liquor laws don’t follow logic

The absurdity of law enforcement and interpretations is clear from the articles about having open containers downtown.

Of the ordinance that liquor purchased from a store can’t be opened within 1,000 feet of the store: What does having an open container of booze in your possession have to do with where you bought it? An open container is an open container, whether it came out of our cupboard or a store. If it were sealed or corked, in our possession, it would not be an open container. I don’t believe you can purchase unsealed or uncorked bottles of booze legitimately.

What a great law.
