Motorcyclist killed in hit-and-run crash

Fatal Crash

A 24-year-old motorcyclist was killed Thursday night in a hit-and-run crash when a car ran a red light at the intersection of Lamb Boulevard and Alexander Road, Metro Police said.

The motorcyclist was riding south on Lamb, headed through the intersection on a green light, about 10 p.m. when a 1997 Toyota Corolla east on Alexander failed to stop at the red light, police said.

The Clark County Coroner's office identified the victim as Las Vegas resident Jesus Vizcarra.

The car entered the intersection in the path of the motorcycle, which hit the left side of the car, police said.

The driver of the car failed to stop and remain at the scene and drove away, police said. The car was found a short time later unoccupied about a half mile from the intersection, police said.

The name of the motorcyclist, from Las Vegas, was not immediately released, pending notification of his family.

The collision resulted in the 79th traffic fatality in Metro’s jurisdiction this year.
