letter to the editor:

Rep. Heck needs to stop pouting

I hope that Rep. Joe Heck feels better now that he has had his self-serving opinion piece printed (“House wants fairness for all Americans”) in the Oct. 10 Sun. I certainly do not!

First, stop telling us that the Republicans are listening to the majority of Americans. It’s a bogus argument! Where were the Republicans after the Newtown, Conn., tragedy, when the majority of Americans wanted, at the minimum, some tightening of gun ownership and sales requirements?

Second, stop touting that you voted to reopen the National Institutes of Health for patient clinics, etc. You never should have voted to close it in the first place.

Third, stop telling us that the president won’t negotiate. The Republican leadership had months and months to work out differences and chose to be led by the Tea Party. Lastly, the Affordable Care Act is the law of the land. If you don’t like it, get the votes to change it. Oh, you tried 40 times and failed 40 times!

Stop pouting like a spoiled brat, do your job or move over and let someone else do it.
