A man on a scooter was killed early today after crashing into a pickup truck near Interstate 15.
Metro Police said the scooter ran into a 2002 Chevrolet pickup turning left from westbound Lake Mead Boulevard onto southbound Englestad Street about 9 a.m.
The man on the scooter, 20, was ejected from his vehicle and landed on the roadway. He was taken to University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. He has not yet been identified.
The driver of the pickup, Alford Burks, 68, remained at the scene.
The incident was the 71st traffic-related death for Metro Police this year.
