Smithereens Cartoon Caption Contest:

This contest goes to the cats

Smithereens Cartoon Caption Contest

Mike Smith

The winner of the September edition of the Smithereens Cartoon Caption Contest is Brian Goode for “Don’t blame me! You are the one that bought a car that looks and sounds like a chew toy.”

This dog might be close to catching the cats, but the race to win the caption contest wasn't close at all. The winning caption received more than half of the votes cast.

The winner of the September edition of the Smithereens Cartoon Caption Contest is Brian Goode for "Don't blame me! You are the one that bought a car that looks and sounds like a chew toy."

The winning caption got 52 percent of the vote. Goode will get an autographed copy of the cartoon with his caption.

The other finalists were:

• "I thought you said you were done with interspecies relationships," also submitted by Brian Goode, received 26 percent of the vote.

• "You just had to remind him about his neutering appointment, didn't you?" yet another submission from Brian Goode, got 11 percent of the votes.

• "Relax, there's a fire hydrant just ahead," from Don Conner, got 9 percent of the vote.

• "And you wanted a Prius," by Richard Nolan, got 2 percent of the vote.

Congratulations to all the finalists. We'll be back soon with another contest.
