A woman was killed and a child was injured today in two unrelated wrecks on opposite ends of the Las Vegas Valley.

The woman was identified by the Clark County Coroner’s Office as Gloria J. Gee, 68, of Las Vegas.

Metro Police said the woman, 68, was riding in the passenger seat of a 2009 Mercedes-Benz C300 that was struck by a 2006 Nissan Titan about 9:25 a.m. at Spring Mountain Road and Buffalo Drive.

Witnesses told police that the Mercedes-Benz was turning left at Buffalo onto eastbound Spring Mountain when the northbound pickup went crashing into the car’s passenger side.

Everyone inside both vehicles was taken to University Medical Center, where the car’s passenger was pronounced dead.

The driver of the Mercedes-Benz, 76, and the driver of the Nissan, 46, were both listed in critical condition.

About two hours earlier, a Nissan Altima struck a 12-year-old in the 500 block of North Lamb Boulevard, between Bonanza Road and Stewart Avenue.

Police said the Altima was traveling north in the right lane of North Lamb, south of Diamond Head Drive. The 12-year-old was crossing North Lamb from west to east and was not in a crosswalk when he was struck head-on by the Altima.

The child was taken to University Medical Center in “critical but stable condition,” police said.
