513 insurance policies sold on Nevada health exchange

So far 513 Nevadans have purchased health coverage through the state's health insurance exchange that went live Oct. 1.

Officials say those people are included in about 2,000 who have "confirmed" plans to buy but have not yet paid for the coverage to take effect Jan. 1.

In a briefing Tuesday to the Board of Examiners, exchange officials also said about 26,000 people have been pre-determined to be eligible for Medicaid or tax credit subsidies.

The Silver State Health Insurance Exchange has an enrollment target of 118,000 people by the end of March.

Officials say while initial sign-ups have been slow, they expect volume to increase over the next few weeks as the first deadline of Dec. 15 nears.
