Two motorcyclists killed in separate crashes

Updated Monday, Nov. 11, 2013 | 9:55 a.m.

Two 22-year-old motorcyclists were killed in separate crashes, one in a collision with a minivan Sunday night and another who hit a concrete wall near the Las Vegas Strip early this morning.

Metro Police responded about 10:25 p.m. Sunday to a wreck at Charleston Boulevard and Linn Lane, near Sloan Lane.

A motorcyclist police had attempted to stop about a mile from the crash scene was headed west on Charleston Boulevard without lights, police said. At the same time, a minivan attempted to make a left onto Linn Lane in front of the motorcycle, police said.

A Metro news release did not indicate why police had tried to stop the motorcycle.

The motorcycle slammed into the front of the minivan, ejecting the rider from the bike, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

After the impact, the minivan collided with another vehicle. The driver and a juvenile passenger in the minivan suffered minor injuries. No one else was injured.

In the other crash, Metro responded about 3 a.m. to Dean Martin Drive, near Tropicana Avenue. A man was headed north on Dean Martin Drive when he lost control of his motorcycle along a curve in the road, police said.

The motorcyclist rode off the road and hit a concrete wall, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
