Two people suffered minor injuries and one person was transported to the hospital with smoke inhalation after a pre-dawn fire today at an apartment complex.

Damage was estimated at $100,000, and the cause was still under investigation, Clark County Fire Department officials said.

Just before 5 a.m., firefighters responded to the blaze at the French Oak apartments, 2823 South Maryland Parkway. Flames were coming from an apartment balcony, fire department officials said.

Paramedics treated two people at the scene and one person suffering from smoke inhalation was taken to University Medical Center, officials said.

A total of 52 fire personnel responded to the two-alarm fire. The American Red Cross was assisting two occupants displaced from their home.

Fire damage was isolated to one apartment, and there was some water damage in the apartment below, officials said.
