Fatal accident
A 71-year-old woman was struck and killed by a truck Monday night as she attempted to cross the street in a gated community.
The Clark County Coroner’s Office identified her as Aiyun Yao. Her place of residence was not immediately known.
Henderson Police responded about 5:30 p.m. to the community near Seven Hills Drive. Yao was crossing Via Sarafina Drive at Palatine Terrace Avenue when the truck hit her, Henderson Police spokesman Keith Paul said.
She was transported to St. Rose Dominican Hospitals — Siena Campus, where she was pronounced dead.
Preliminary investigation indicated that the driver did not appear to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol and that speed did not appear to be a factor, Paul said.
