Joe Downtown: Take in ‘Naked Vegas’ to support brain health

The Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health will be ground zero for a unique event tonight, bringing people together to drink margaritas, watch “Naked Vegas” and raise money and awareness for the center.

It is called the Alien Brain Project and is organized by George Harris, co-owner of Mundo restaurant and distiller of Alien Tequila. Harris said the $20 suggested donation grants the payer free margaritas, appetizers, giveaways and a viewing of tonight’s episode of SyFy’s “Naked Vegas,” a reality show about body painters.

How many margaritas for $20?

“More than you can ever consume,” Harris said.

Aside from the money raised for the center, 888 W. Bonneville Ave., Harris is promoting the event as a way to raise awareness for the center. He will encourage people to use their iPads, smartphones and the like to broadcast awareness of brain health through Twitter, Facebook and other social media.

Harris said today he has confirmation so far from 160 people but has a goal of several hundred more. Cast members from “Naked Vegas” will also attend.

The party begins at 8 p.m. and “Naked Vegas” will be shown at 9:30 p.m.
