Inmate escapes work assignment

An inmate with the Nevada Corrections Department was on the loose for less than five hours this afternoon after he walked away from a work assignment by Boulder Highway.

Casey Davis, 22, was on assignment with the Nevada Forestry Division near Boulder Highway and Flamingo Road when he walked away at about 11:53 a.m., according to the Nevada Corrections Department. But early this evening, corrections officials said Davis had been captured about 4:30 p.m.

Davis, who was incarcerated at Three Lakes Valley Conservation Camp, had been in custody with the Nevada Corrections Department since Sept. 5 and was serving a sentence of 12 to 30 months for attempted grand larceny. He was due for release in August 2014.

Officals said he was being transported to the High Desert State Prison after his capture.
