A suspicious black cylindrical object closed U.S. 95 for more than an hour Wednesday before Las Vegas Fire and Bomb squad investigators determined it was harmless.
A Nevada Department of Transportation worker had noticed the object on the side of the road and alerted authorities out of fear that it could be a bomb, Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Jeremie Elliott said.
The highway was closed in both directions while Fire and Bomb squad members probed the object with a robot. It was determined that the object was not explosive or dangerous, Elliott said. The highway has reopened in both directions.
