In Nevada, it turns out not that many people want their kid to "be like Mike" anymore.
The Social Security Administration compiles an annual list of the most popular baby names across the country and by state.
In 2012, Alexander, Anthony, Daniel, Jayden and Jacob topped the list for boys born in Nevada. Looking back through the administration data, which goes back to 1960, certain names rise and fall in favor.
In 1962, 1972, 1982, 1992 and 2002, Michael was in the top five names for baby boys in Nevada. In 1992, the year Michael Jordan won the second of his six NBA championships, Michael was the No. 1 name given to Nevada's baby boys. However, the name has been gradually declining in popularity and now sits at number 19.
The most popular names for Silver State baby girls in 2012 were Sophia, Isabella, Emma, Olivia and Mia.
Nationally, in 2012, the top names for boys were Jacob, Mason, Ethan, Noah and William; for girls, the favored names were Sophia, Emma, Isabella, Olivia and Ava.
