North Las Vegas man arrested in wife’s shooting death

North Las Vegas Police arrested a man on Tuesday suspected of shooting and killing his wife following an investigation into her death that was initially reported as a suicide.

Police allege that Jarom Boyes, an active-duty military member at Nellis Air Force Base, shot his 24-year-old wife in the stomach on April 6 during a physical fight that evening.

The victim’s death was initially reported as a suicide in April, police said. Officers responded to a home in the 80 block of Whitetail Archery Avenue, near Deer Springs Way and North 5th Street, where they found a woman dead from a gunshot wound, police said.

It was reported that she had shot herself following an argument with Boyes, but detectives noticed evidence that challenged that claim.

Investigation revealed that the victim and Boyes had been arguing while they were out with friends earlier that evening, police said. When they returned home, the argument turned into a physical altercation that ended with Boyes allegedly shooting his wife, police said.

Boyes was charged with one count of murder with a deadly weapon.
