51s rally but fall short against Omaha

Eric Campbell went 3-for-3 with two RBIs, but the Las Vegas 51s were unable to complete a rally, dropping a 5-4 game to Omaha on Thursday.

The 51s got a run in the top half of the ninth inning off a Wilmer Flores (1-for-5 with two RBIs) ground out, which followed an Andrew Brown triple to lead off the inning.

Las Vegas followed it up by loading the bases with two outs, but Kirk Nieuwenhuis struck out to end the game.

The 51s had a 3-1 lead after Campbell drove in Josh Satin (2-for-4 with two runs scored), but the Storm Chasers scored three runs (one in the fourth and two in the fifth) to take the lead.

Omaha added an insurance run in the eighth inning, which proved to be the difference maker.

Both teams tallied 11 hits.

Anthony Seratelli, Christian Colon and Irving Falu all tallied two hits for Omaha.

D.J. Mitchell took the loss for Las Vegas, while Justin Marks picked up his first win of the season for Omaha.

The series continues 7:05 p.m. Friday.
