I want to commend the Outside Las Vegas Foundation for its editorial encouraging protection of Gold Butte.

Providing federal protection to Gold Butte will bring resources and attention to the area, making it even more accessible to hunters, campers, off-roaders, nature enthusiasts and out-of-state visitors.

A recent Outdoor Industry report revealed that outdoor recreation in Nevada is responsible for $14.9 billion in revenue and 148,000 jobs. A special designation for Gold Butte will expand our opportunities.

  1. Nothing happens until the Interior Department completes it's Inspector General's report on the Miliam and City of Henderson land deal. Appointees at the highest level of government are involved in this deal which has a rancid odor. All government intervention on behalf of Gold Butte and all other parts of Nevada is on hold until the IG report comes out and makes its findings and conclusions. If those conclusions implicate BLM political appointees, kiss Gold Butte's government sanctions good bye.
