Pedestrian hit by motorcycle in critical condition

Updated Wednesday, May 8, 2013 | 10:21 a.m.

A motorcycle hit a pedestrian early Wednesday morning near Flamingo Road and Koval Lane, sending the pedestrian and the motorcyclist to the hospital.

The pedestrian, John Quinton McCable Jr., 58, of San Angelo, Texas, was in critical condition, Metro Police said.

“The pedestrian was initially transported in non-critical condition but took a turn for the worse,” Metro Lt. Tadd Dodds said.

The motorcyclist, Nestor Guzman-Hernandez, 21, of Las Vegas, suffered minor injuries, police said.

The incident happened about 3 a.m. on Flamingo Road, west of the intersection of Audrie Street. Witness statements and evidence at the scene indicate McCabe was crossing Flamingo Road, from the south to the north, outside a marked crosswalk when he was hit by the motorcycle, which was headed west.

Guzman-Hernandez was thrown from the Kawasaki 500R motorcycle and landed in the street.

Both men were taken to University Medical Center. The incident remains under investigation.
