I was surprised to see the article, “Public lands bills being held.” It seems to me there has been much support for Gold Butte protection, whether it be from hikers, hunters or riders.

I think local advocates and our representatives in Washington have done a good job of listening to concerns and needs and have worked to address them.

For me, protection just makes sense. Putting Gold Butte on the map, highlighted by permanent protection, will bring more people to our area and keep them here longer.

Experiencing our amazing landscape also includes filling up in our gas stations, grabbing a bite to eat at our local restaurants and picking up last-minute gear in our shops.

It’s a win-win all around and I hope our senators and congressmen can work together and stand up for what’s right for our land and community and introduce legislation to protect Gold Butte soon!
