Motorcyclist dies in collision with car backing out of driveway

Fatal crash

Sun coverage

A 53-year-old man riding a motorcycle died Saturday after he collided with a car on Nellis Boulevard near Desert Inn Road.

Police received reports of the collision about 5:40 p.m. The motorcyclist was traveling north on Nellis Boulevard when a woman began pulling her Acura Integra out of a driveway on the 3200 block of Nellis Boulevard, police said.

The woman’s car backed across the northbound lanes and into the path of the motorcyclist. The motorcyclist then crashed into the side of her car, police said. The force of the impact flung him from his motorcycle.

Medical personnel pronounced him dead at the scene. The driver of the Acura was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center and treated for moderate injuries.

Police are investigating the crash.
