Man, 75, dies when car runs into bridge pillar

A 75-year-old man crashed into a bridge pillar while driving south on U.S. 95 early Friday and died from injuries sustained in the accident, the Nevada Highway Patrol reported.

The crash was reported at 12:52 a.m. near Durango Drive, Trooper Loy Hixson said.

The 1999 sport utility vehicle veered into the center median and hit the overpass pillar, he said. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

It is not known what caused the driver to leave the road.
