Rod Stewart's Time
Pre-order sales start today for Rod Stewart’s new album “Time” out May 7. It’s his first CD of all-new material in nearly two decades, and he wrote and produced 11 of the 12 tracks himself. Order via iTunes, and a bonus three songs are included, among them “Legless” -- British slang for falling down drunk.
Here’s a sneak-preview video featuring portions of the new material set to a montage of never-before-seen videos filmed during the making of “Time.”
Rod’s first single, "She Makes Me Happy,” premiered on U.S. radio this morning and will be available for download at digital retailers beginning at midnight tonight. The iTunes pre-order for “Time” launches simultaneously.
The Caesars Palace headliner, a two-time inductee into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and named by the Queen as a Commander of the British Empire, says that he lost his songwriting desire in 1991. “In a burst of inspiration, I just suddenly rediscovered my voice as a songwriter, and the gift was rekindled,” he said.
“Something about that process of reviewing my life for the autobiography reconnected me, and that was it. Suddenly, ideas for lyrics were piling up in my head. Next thing I knew, I had a song called ‘It’s Over’ about divorce and separation.
“And now I was getting up in the middle of the night and scrambling for a pen to write things down, which has never happened to me. I finished seven or eight songs very quickly, and I still wasn’t done, and it became apparent that I would have a whole album of material to record, which had never happened before.”
His 27 albums have sold an estimated 150 million copies worldwide. On June 1, Rod begins his “Live the Life Tour” in Europe and then returns to a new residency at The Colosseum at Caesars from July 20 through Aug. 4. Rod’s original contract ended last year, but he extended for more dates.
In October, he resumes the North American leg of the “Life Tour” with Steve Winwood, which includes Las Vegas.

Transport yourself to the opulent and excessive Roman Empire at Caesars Palace. But the ever-changing Caesars Palace is far from ancient. The hotel and casino is constantly raising the bar for what visitors can expect in a Vegas resort experience.
Caesars Palace features 3,348 rooms and suites in five towers, including the new luxury boutique Nobu Hotel and Restaurant, which opened Feb. 4, 2013, in the totally remodeled Centurian Tower. Caesars features 129,000 square feet of gaming space, including the Strip’s largest poker room and a 250-seat sports book. Other amenities include about two dozen restaurants, a four-level shopping mall, four pools, a spa, Pure and Poetry nightclubs and Pussycat Dolls.
Dining options include restaurants from world-renown chefs Guy Savoy, Wolfgang Puck, Bobby Flay, Gordon Ramsay and, on Feb. 4, 2013, Nobu Matsuhisa.
You never know what characters you’ll run into at Caesars with regular performers like Jerry Seinfeld, Bette Midler, Elton John and maybe even the emperor himself.
