Moped accident in NLV leaves man in critical condition

A 51-year-old man suffered critical injuries Monday evening after losing control of his moped in North Las Vegas.

The single-vehicle accident happened in the 3700 block of W. Lake Mead Boulevard near Texas Station, according to North Las Vegas Police.

It appears the man struck a center median before crashing, police said. He was transported to University Medical Center's trauma unit.

The department's major crash investigation team is on scene. It's unclear whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the accident.
