Boaters asked to avoid main launch at Lake Mead’s Echo Bay

Low water levels at Lake Mead have prompted officials to ask boaters to avoid using the main boat launch at Echo Bay.

Lake Mead officials are asking boaters to avoid using the main launch area at Echo Bay because of low water levels.

Though the main launch ramp remains open, boaters are encouraged to launch from other locations as the low water levels make navigating past the marina difficult, Lake Mead National Recreation Area spokeswoman Christie Vanover said in a statement.

A courtesy dock previously located at the main ramp was moved to another location and signs have been posted at the main launch ramp instructing boaters on alterative launch locations, she said.
