Fresh off of its Tony Awards sweep Sunday night, Broadway’s hit musical “Kinky Boots” announced plans to launch the production’s first national tour in Las Vegas in September 2014.

Director Jerry Mitchell confirmed to the Sun Wednesday afternoon that the Smith Center for the Performing Arts will host the opening dates. Further details of the tour will be announced at a later date.

The musical, based on the 2005 film of the same name, tells the story of a struggling British shoe factory that looks for success in the niche market of boots for drag queens.

“Kinky Boots” received nominations in 13 Tony categories this year, taking home six awards Sunday night including best new musical, best lead actor and best original score.
