Bathroom exhaust fan explodes, igniting apartment fire

Fire

A bathroom exhaust fan explosion caused a small fire and about $15,000 worth of damage to a West Tropicana Avenue apartment complex Monday morning, fire officials said.

Firefighters from the Clark County Fire Department and Las Vegas Fire & Rescuse responded to a fire at 7:26 a.m. Monday on the second floor of a Foothill Village apartment building, 6255 W. Tropicana Ave.

The cause of the fire was determined to be the explosion of a bathroom exhaust fan, which created a blaze that extended into the dwelling’s attic. Firefighters were able to knock the blaze down quickly, and no civilian or firefighter injuries were reported.
