Want to complain at a city council meeting? Now you can do it online

Las Vegans wanting to weigh in on important matters before the city council can now do so without leaving their home or office.

The city unveiled a new online commenting system Monday that will allow residents to share their thoughts and concerns on items included on city council and planning commission agendas.

The comments, which can be posted at lasvegasnevada.gov starting a few days before the meeting, will be included as part of the official record, just like they would if the person had submitted a letter or appeared in person at the meeting.

The comments will be gathered in real-time, allowing city staff and council members to receive them during their meetings.

The online commenting system is one of several services the city has moved online in recent years. In addition to being able to stream city meetings online, residents can also pay for business licenses, report graffiti and check on the status of an inspection through the city's website.
