An abandoned briefcase has caused an evacuation and a police investigation of a Las Vegas church and elementary school lasting several hours Sunday.
Metro Police responded to a call about 9 a.m. regarding an unattended briefcase on the grounds of St. Francis de Sales school and Catholic parish, near Washington Avenue and Jones Boulevard. Police said the church was evacuated about 10:30 a.m., when an armor unit arrived to investigate.
The building remained evacuated as of noon Sunday, police said.
