Woman arrested after attack

A Las Vegas woman was arrested Tuesday after allegedly attacking another woman with a box cutter.

Latoya White, 32, was arrested on charges of attempted murder and battery with a deadly weapon after allegedly attacking the woman in June at an apartment complex in the 2600 block of Van Patten Street, near Sahara Avenue and Paradise Road.

According to the arrest report, White attacked Michelle Garofalo after going to her apartment and asking for a shirt.

Garofalo told police that White attacked her due to a verbal altercation between the two the night before, where White had claimed that Garofalo had given her brother drugs. She initially let White into her apartment because she thought the two had worked everything out the night before, the report stated.

White allegedly cursed at Garofalo before charging at her with a box cutter, cutting her left arm several times and then getting on top of her, continuing the assault. Garofalo was able to kick free of White and ran to a neighbor's house for help, according to the report.

Garofalo suffered four cuts on the left arm, one cut on the right leg, a cut on the left side of her chest, seven cuts to the face and head, and two cuts on the left side of her neck, according to the report.

White was arrested Tuesday and booked into the Clark County Detention Center. Her bail was set at $40,000.
