Man arrested on murder charges

A man was arrested on suspicion of murder Wednesday after he walked into a Henderson police station and alerted police to the crime.

Charles Pierce, 25, was booked into the Henderson Detention Center on Wednesday after calling police about the incident around 1:50 a.m. Pierce walked into a police station to call 911 from a phone in the entryway and told a dispatcher that he had gotten in a fight with a man he did not know and that the man was not moving, according to a statement released by the Henderson Police Department.

The dispatcher told Pierce to stay on the line, but Pierce left the station before eventually being caught by officers.

A body was found near 105 W. Basic Road, near Van Wagenen Street and Pacific Avenue, according to the statement. The deceased man appeared to be in his 30s or 40s, and no cause of death was immediately apparent.

The Clark County Coroner's Office is working to identify the deceased.

The death is the fourth homicide in Henderson in 2013.
