New restaurants popping up around the valley

Conversations that begin with, "Where should we eat?" will become a little more prolonged this summer. An eclectic array of restaurants will be opening their doors and whetting appetites across the Las Vegas Valley.

      Firehouse Subs

      Firehouse Subs celebrated its 10th store opening July 3. The restaurant serves a wide array of submarine sandwiches, such as the King's Hawaiian Pork & Slaw Sandwich — pork smothered in pepper jack cheese and topped with homemade Hawaiian coleslaw on a toasted King's Hawaiian sandwich bun. The new location, 7865 W. Sahara Ave., is open from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday to Thursday, and from 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.

      Carmine's

      Carmine's began serving Italian cuisine in the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace on July 16. The restaurant, which originated in New York, offers selections like the nine-inch-high eggplant parmigiana, linguine with clam sauce and more. The 750-seat eatery boasts six private dining rooms and can accommodate large, walk-in groups. The restaurant is open from 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sundays and Mondays, and from 11:30 a.m. to midnight Tuesday through Friday.

      McFadden's

      McFadden's, an Irish-American restaurant, opened its new location at Town Square on July 19. The locale puts a modern twist on traditional Irish cuisine with dishes like Dublin rolls, an egg roll filled with pulled corned beef, braised cabbage and vegetables, served with a Guinness mustard dipping sauce. For a post-dinner drink, patrons can also choose from McFadden's dozens of draft and bottled beers, 80-ounce fishbowl cocktails, a "bomb" shots menu or Fireball Cinnamon Whisky on tap. McFadden's is open from 4 p.m. to 4 a.m. daily.

      Smashburger

      Smashburger will start serving burgers at a new location on Las Vegas Boulevard on July 23. In addition to burgers filled with Angus beef, patrons can also delve into a hand-spun Haagen-Dasz shake, cold beers and other items. The restaurant will be located at 7390 Las Vegas Blvd. Daily operating hours will be from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m..

      Sammy's

      Sammy's Restaurant, Bar & Grill is set to open in Henderson in September. The 8,000-square-foot eatery, located on the corner of Green Valley Parkway and Pebble Road, will boast a vast selection of entrees, such as oak-roasted salmon filet, braised lamb shank and other items designed for sharing like tapas and Japanese-style chicken meatballs. Sammy's will also offer various gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian items. Sammy's will be open 24 hours.

      BLT Steak

      BLT Steak will start serving patrons at Bally's in early 2014. The steakhouse, which has two separate dining rooms for intimate group dinners, will seat more than 250. The steakhouse will serve a variety of steaks — from New York steaks that have been dry-aged for 28 days to bone-in rib eye steaks. Besides certified Angus steak, the restaurant will serve fare like tuna tartare and peanut butter chocolate mousse. Operating hours have not been set.
