Jordany Valdespin stays hot to help 51s beat Reno

Jordany Valdespin continued to flourish at the plate with the Las Vegas 51s, belting two-run home run Monday in a 7-2 victory against visiting Reno.

Valdespin, who was optioned to Triple-A Las Vegas last week from the New York Mets, is batting .455 with 12 RBIs with the 51s. Monday, the infielder had three RBIs and two runs scored; Sunday, he had four hits and five RBIs.

Zach Lutz had two RBIs Monday, Matt den Dekker went 2-for-4 with a RBI, and Ruben Tejada and Eric Campell each scored a pair of runs.

Giancarlo Alvarado surrendered one run over six innings to earn the win.

The 51s and Reno play the next three nights at Cashman Field. First pitch is at 7:05 p.m.
