A former cocktail waitress is settling a 2008 federal lawsuit that accused former Nevada Gov. Jim Gibbons of orchestrating a cover-up of allegations that he grabbed her outside a Las Vegas restaurant when he was campaigning for governor.

Documents show Chrissy Mazzeo's civil rights lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court against Gibbons, former Clark County Sheriff Bill Young, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and Republican political strategist Sig Rogich and others was dismissed July 12.

Attorney Walter Cannon said Mazzeo is accepting $50,000.

Gibbons a member of Congress when Mazzeo alleged that he threatened to sexually assault her in a parking garage in October 2006.

Gibbons said he walked Mazzeo to her car and grabbed her arm when she tripped and fell.
