Construction:

D Street off-ramp closed through Friday to accommodate F Street underpass project

D Street Construction

The looming specter of road closures and reduced lanes around Interstate 15 continues Monday, as the project to reopen the F Street underpass moves closer to completion.

The D Street off-ramp to I-15 will be closed nightly between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. from Monday to Friday, the Nevada Department of Transportation announced. The closure will enable crews to install a temporary traffic management system to help with the construction of the underpass.

More closures will come later in July, with significant construction forcing additional lane and ramp closures until the end of 2013, NDOT spokesman Damon Hodge said in a press release. I-15 will be limited to two lanes northbound and southbound between U.S. 95 and Lake Mead Boulevard.

The F Street underpass closed in 2009, leading residents of the West Las Vegas neighborhood cut off from downtown to begin petitioning and protesting city and state officials to reopen the underpass. The $13.6 million project is expected to be completed by 2014.
