To be an American: A country of unlimited opportunity

Last week we asked you what it means to be an American. We received a great response. Here are some of the letters and comments. We’ll publish more in the coming days.

What does it mean to be an American? That is something only someone born in another country can fully understand and appreciate.

Mostly it’s about the freedom it allows us to enjoy and living in a country where we have unlimited opportunity.

As veteran, it means a sworn obligation to uphold my oath to protect our country and Constitution from invasion, foreign or domestic.
