There’s something progressive about conservatives

It looks like the word “amnesty” has been officially deleted. After listening to Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., talk with Rush Limbaugh on Tuesday, it appears that the immigration issue in America may be getting beyond whether a second border fence should be 10 feet tall or 20 feet tall. Apparently, the “conservative principles” that Rubio kept talking about with Limbaugh now include the much-belated recognition that America must acknowledge the presence of the estimated 11 million undocumented immigrants who have been living in this country. And more importantly, America must work out some pathway for them to citizenship. Yes, the ...

  1. Obama's extreme proposal for illegal immigration reform includes poison pills. These include:

    - The Bi-partisan Senate plan requires registration, guest worker program, establishes a green card process followed an opportunity for citizenship at the back of the line.
Obama has issued EOs to ICE and Customs Agents for rules of engagement that prevent them from implementing enforcement laws. Obama want no contingencies, he wants to confer guaranteed citizenship to every illegal the day the bill is signed.

    - The 1986 immigration amnesty law FAILED because there was no enforcement. Obama will NOT accept enforcement; securing the southern border, e-verify, Identification of illegals - as a basis of for starting the pathway process.

    - Accepting Gay marriage contrary to the Defense of Marriage Act-1996 passed by Clinton.
Changing the Defense of Marriage Act is the only acceptable way to address this issue

Based on this it is evident that Obama is try to scuttle the immigration bill to keep it alive as a campaign issue.

  2. The USA has always welcomed immigrants and we will never stop. No one has a greater right over land than anyone else. It belongs to all of us who wish and want it. It's taken the GOP party longer to realize and recognize but it finally did to its credit.

  3. The GOP is past due for enlightenment. Now, if they'll just stay on their meds.............

  4. Palin is cheap compared to the cost of "Hope and change", so far $19,047 for every single American citizen, including thirty million pre-citizens and 47% deadbeat fleabaggers. Politburo journalists are just sooo dumb. You Betcha.

  5. A Mexican bank could build a branch office to L's Vegas to pay illegals for daily allowances.

  6. This is a great editorial. But watch closely. What's happening is SOP. Conservatives are about to co-opt core liberal ideas and claim them as their own. Afterall, by employing repetition, denial and a broad propaganda network, they have shown themselves to be masters at altering reality. They're all likely to start showing up for photo-ops surrounded by puppies and babies and hearts on their sleeves, accusing liberals of being hard-hearted misers.

  7. "Even climate change skeptic Richard Muller"

Muller wasn't much of a skeptic to begin with. At any rate, the taxpayer funding trying to prove global warming dwarfs anything the fossil fuel industry does. Obama even included climate change study as part of the economic stimulus package. You can't make this stuff up.
