Fire heavily damaged a vacant two-story house this morning in northwest Las Vegas, Las Vegas Fire and Rescue spokesman Tim Szymanski said.
Las Vegas and North Las Vegas firefighters arrived about 1:30 a.m. to the house in the 5400 block of Rock Creek Lane, near Ann Road and Jones Boulevard.
Heavy flames were coming from the house, Szymanski said.
It took 40 minutes to extinguish the fire, Szymanski said. The fire gutted the garage and damaged the second floor of the house, while smoke damaged the rest of the home, he said.
The fire caused an estimated $125,000 damage, Szymanski said.
Neighbors told fire investigators that the house had been in the foreclosure process for the past few months, but someone had been staying in the home.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
