Woman found dead in apartment fire

A woman was found dead Monday morning in an apartment fire at the Monaco Park Apartment complex.

The Clark County Fire Department received reports about 2:30 a.m. of heavy smoke and fire alarms blaring from an apartment in the 8300 block of West Desert Inn Road, near Cimarron Road, spokesman Russ Cameron said.

Firefighters found a fire in the living room of a ground-floor apartment, Cameron said. When the flames were extinguished, they discovered the victim, he said.

Cameron said the fire caused about $10,000 damage. No one else was injured, and the cause of the fire is under investigation, Cameron said.
