Driver dies after his car hits light poles, rolls over

Fatal crash

Sun coverage

A 55-year-old man died Sunday after his car rolled over when he crashed into two light poles on Cheyenne Avenue.

The man was driving west on Cheyenne Road near Michael Way around 8:30 a.m., when he drove across the eastbound lanes and struck the poles, Metro Police officials said. He was taken to University Medical Center with a head injury and later was pronounced dead.

Police said the cause of the crash is under investigation but that it appeared the driver may have been suffering from a medical episode at the time of the crash.
