A 78-year-old man is in critical condition after he was struck by a car Saturday while crossing Spring Mountain Road outside a marked crosswalk. Metro Police officials said the crash occurred around 9:51 p.m. Witnesses statements indicated that the man was crossing Spring Mountain Road near Stober Boulevard when he was struck by a westbound Honda Civic. Police said the man was taken to University Medical Center and was in critical condition. The crash remains under investigation.

I don't know why these seniors think they can make it across the street before getting hit, you cannot. Pedestrians need to know, when you cross in darkness you do not become visible until about 25 feet, that leave very little time for drivers to react. If you must cross, cross when there are no headlights, otherwise wait. I wonder if the police have even considered that its was a suicide attempt?
