  1. The perpetrator of this crime is one very sick individual.

  2. What a joke. No 34-year-old man sexually assaults a 68-year-old woman. This is out of question. The mistake he made, is as it seems, not to have had a nurse in the same room, while examining the patient. No witnesses are present, so just the accusition brings him into jail... never be alone with a female patient without any witnesses ... No.1 rule ...

  3. I have the upmost respect for Indian doctors. I just don't get how this guy got his natural and mechanical colonscope muddled?

  4. @Elvegas is right.

  5. @Elvegas & chediski

You're both jokes. "No 34 year old man sexually assaults a 68 year old woman" ?? "THis is out of the question"?? Are you nuts, Elvegas???? So this woman is lying? And yes, no doctor should be alone with a patient, whether in a hospital or office, but we don't know why a nurse was not present in the room at the time. Maybe lack of staff available because of cut backs?? We don't know what the circumstances were in this situation on why he was alone in the room.

But no 34yr old man sexually assaults a 68 year old woman....please - your ignorance is showing.

  6. Ignorance? It is just common sense. It is reason. If this doctor was a "pervert", he would have assaulted a young woman! And believing, that a man assaults a woman, while a nurse is present in a room, makes it even more unrealistic, if not even stupid. Nobody would do that! Nobody! These perverted criminals still have a brain to think with, they CHOOSE their victim and they wait for the RIGHT moment! In this case, by what we know so far, there is no witness except the doctor and the patient. And this puts the doctor in a position, where he obviously has no chance of defending himself. Even if he was totally innocent and freed of any charges, he will always be stigmatized as a "potential rapist". And if TWO different women, who don't have any relationship to each other, accuse him, then this guy's life is over. This case is a big warning for all male health professionals. No matter, how big the cutbacks in your hospital are, no matter how unavailable other staff is, never ever be alone with a female patient in a room!

  7. Doctors assault patients all the time. It's hard to prove in a court of law.

  8. Munchkins, you're onto it. While not violent, I have experienced a doctor who rubbed up against me with pertinent anatomy--when I was mid 40's. The doctor was ineffective in his medical "expertise" and I went elsewhere after this. Eventually, I see, he has "retired". Word was out among my health plan that he was no good in his specialty / general practice. It appears that his medical partners felt he was not generating enough revenue.

As far as why a doctor would--I suspect some people cannot handle the "authority" of telling people what to do and thinking they are godlike. Perhaps similar to the thinking of pedophiles who assault young / weak victims.

  9. I know how this woman feels about being violated. I was at the hospital in Portland and led to the room where the doctor was waiting and it turned out she was a young Chinese girl who looked about 16 to me, but being 63 years old,all girls look young to me. I thought she was a nurse because she was asking me all sorts of questions and putting them in the computer. She then told me to drop my pants and shorts to my knees. I went real slow because I thought maybe I was hearing things and could just imagine her screaming and alarms sounding. Long story short, its was strickly buisness but she sure knew what she was doing.
I guess I should have demanded a nurse in the room but I couldn't get the smile off my face for days and by then,it was too late.
As for the 34 year old doctor, I sure he had classes in medical school so he wouldn't get sick after looking at a 68 year old lady with her cloths off. She's probably got mental problems and thinks she's still attractive to men.

  10. Reminds me of a Clint Eastwood movie where he's playing a detective and he's in the police station and there's this old lady who was about 70 and she's making a rape complaint and she points out this guy walking by as the guy and then the next guy and the next guy.

  11. It is not only male doctors who are vulnerable, also vulnerable are female physicians. While every physician, male or female, must be accompanied by a male or female nurse, when examining male or female patients, in reality there is no such provision available to physicians, who take risk on a daily basis. Physicians are poorly organized people, with little or no, say, in such matters, and so expose themselves to this kind of allegation's. The hospital and nursing administration, do not care about physicians vulnerability and continue to not provide safe working environment for physicians. It is the physician who takes the brunt. Nothing happens to the hospital administration who consistently fail to provide support staff.

I do not know what the physician in question did or did not do, or whether he is guilty or not, fact of the matter is, physicians expose themselves to unsafe practice environment.

Because physicians are poorly organized group, they are unable to pressurize hospital or nursing administration to provide basic safe working environment.
