Power has been restored to approximately 10,000 customers in central Las Vegas whose lights went out about 6 a.m. today.
“Five major distribution lines tripped up, kind of like the circuit breaker in your house,” NV Energy spokesman Mark Severts said.
The outage originated at a substation near Valley View Boulevard and Flamingo Road, and power was restored about 7 a.m.
Each substation has about eight to 10 major distribution lines that go out to neighborhoods and large customers, Severts said.
There were reports that some Strip properties were affected by the power outage, but NV Energy could not confirm any specific properties that lost electricity.
