Authorities say they confiscated hundreds of pieces of counterfeit sports merchandise from two downtown kiosks as part of a nationwide crackdown in advance of the Super Bowl on Feb. 3. Metro Police and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials collaborated on the operation led by ICE’s Homeland Security Investigations and dubbed “Operation Red Zone.” In Las Vegas, it yielded about 600 phony National Football League logos and more than 70 knockoff sports jerseys, in addition to T-shirts and hoodies emblazoned with counterfeit logos for the NFL, Major League Baseball and the National Basketball Association, officials said. Good work Task Force, whew , all the moments leading up to the raid had to be intense. I'm sure there was a connection between the phony merchandise and all the drug labs and grow houses that have been raided lately and I would bet that its all connected to those illegals on the Strip that hand out the smut fliers , now go raid them and then you'll be doing some good for the community. Homeland Security is in on phony jerseys raids??? Relax everyone we are all safe now.

It doesn't matter where the illegal goods came from, who's selling it, the unusual names, and where's the kiosk located? It matters when there was a crime committed and was apprehended and seized. To many negative comments here and I wish they (the commenters) should open their eyes and try to understand how Metro is doing their best to make the Strip a safer place to be and for the tourists who are not con into buying bogus merchandise

Really? Two agencies using local and federal tax dollars for t-shirts and key chains when we don't have enough teachers in schools and law enforcement to go around for serious crime?
"Operation Red Zone" should be a nice addition to an officer's resume! "Responsibilities included dressing like a tourist, walking up to a kiosk and buying a football jersey from a high school dropout".
And people wonder why our government is trillions of dollars in debt and unable to balance a budget.

I could be wrong but maybe the vendors were Americans working, not sure about how it leads to other crimes, maybe after buying a fake Jersey the profits will go towards buying a fake Easter bunny, the next big event.
I am glad that stuff is off the street so I can be sure anyone wearing a jersy is a true fan that will spend a weeks pay to show it.
