Regarding Steve Orton’s letter to the editor, “Amendment isn’t about individuals”:
It’s impossible to have a rational debate about guns with people who don’t know history. There are numerous arguments in the Federalist Papers about fighting the tyranny of government but nothing about how to “procure food and protect themselves from thieves or animals.” Perhaps the letter writer has never heard of the Federalist Papers.
One only has to look at the current Administration to understand stealing from a few to buy favor with others.
With Obamacare the government own you and your body
Religious freedom is gone for many
Letter writer is correct. History is nagging and nuisance reality for those who know and understand it. Most today pefer to ignore it.

Thanks for the link. While I don't agree with him on every point, I do have to say that it's a very well written commentary.
What?????? the 2nd admendment is not about the people's rights?
Is not the whole Bill of Rights is to enumerate the rights of the people and to restrict of the power of the government?
What planet are these people on?
There is going to be a new ban on assault rifles.
You republicans need to get over it.
NOBODY needs an assault rifle.
AND YES, the government can ban assault rifles.
And we, the majority of Americans have already
spoken.
We, the majority of Americans want better gun
regulations and a new assault rifle ban.
We out number you republicans.
That's what DEMOCRACY is all about.
Let me offer another historical event of the overthrow of a tyrannical fascist government. It was called the Carnation Revolution because no shots were fired. Interesting read about a courageous and organized populous.
