CARSON CITY -- Two lawyers from Ely and one from Las Vegas have been nominated to succeed District Judge Dan Papez, who retired this month after 20 years on the bench in the Seventh Judicial District.
The state Commission on Judicial Selection said Wednesday it had sent to Gov. Brian Sandoval the names of White County District Attorney Kelly C. Brown, Gary Fairman of Ely and Robert Gaston with Gaston Resolution in Las Vegas.
Only four people applied. One of the applicants, Gregory Barlow, of Caliente, didn't make the cut.
The Seventh Judicial District encompasses White Pine, Lincoln and Eureka counties in eastern Nevada.
