Man killed in industrial accident identified

The Clark County Coroner’s Office has identified a man killed Monday in an industrial accident at the Apex Quarry and Plant as 54-year-old Kenneth Kurakis of North Las Vegas.

The accident occurred shortly before 11:30 a.m. at the limestone quarry operated by Lhoist North American Plant. It is not clear how the man died, North Las Vegas Fire Capt. Cedric Williams said.

The coroner’s office has not determined the cause of death. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating.

The plant is located off Highway 91, north of the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
