Hypnotist Marshall Sylver lands residency at Planet Hollywood’s PH Live

Known as “the greatest hypnotist of all time,” 50-year-old Marshall Sylver will kick off an open-ended residency in Planet Hollywood’s PH Live starting March 19, and he’s betting more than $10 million on the spectacular.

“The deal could be worth upwards of $200 million to me based on the performances,” he said proudly.

Marshall decided to reveal details about the unknown and unexpected show to steer speculation away from recent reports elsewhere that pop princess Britney Spears was going into that theater. Although Vegas DeLuxe first reported negotiations were continuing for Britney to come to Las Vegas, we did not disclose where or with which hotel group.

Marshall says his show will have a full-time nightly cast of 12, but with the nightly volunteers, it will jump to 26. His 7:30 p.m. show, “Real Hypnosis,” will run 85 minutes with dancers, pyrotechnics and his arrival onstage via helicopter.

His daily next-morning show at 11, which will run 90 minutes, is titled “Taste of Prosperity,” and he’ll tell the story of how he credits hypnosis changing his life from being a dirt-poor farm boy with nine siblings and no running water to living in a 17,000-square-foot Las Vegas palatial residence.

Marshall, who played the Stratosphere as its resident headliner for several years, says he’s come up with a fool-proof plan to fill 5,000 seats nightly in the former Theater for the Performing Arts: Ticket buyers at night get the morning show for free, where they can win tens of thousands of dollars in cash and prizes.

Back in 1994, he launched a product that hypnotizes people who listen to it. He went into $250,000 debt and wound up with $120 million in sales. “I wanted this time to really have a legacy, so it’s a huge gamble,” he told me. “But we tested its audience appeal for three weeks, and it worked better than we thought.”

I’ve learned that the show will have actors, little people and DJs. “People will drop their jaws when they see me perform time travel, bloodless surgery and telepathic hypnosis onstage,” he added. “I will have three women from the audience go rigid each night to form a human staircase that I can walk up.

“That’s the power of hypnosis. I can do what Cirque du Soleil can’t but would like to. … This show will be so powerful, people will never stop talking about it. Audiences will come back the next morning to learn how hypnosis can change their lives and relationships and prosperity for the better.”

Our full interview with Marshall will be posted Wednesday in which he’ll address accusations of false advertising made against him 13 years ago by the Nevada State Attorney General. “The judge threw out the charges, and I was 100 percent exonerated,” he said. He was never accused of false advertising before then or in the 13 years since he has traveled all over the world with his demonstrations and exhibitions.
