House fire
Firefighters kept a house fire reported late this afternoon from spreading to neighboring homes in the Rancho Springs area of Las Vegas.
Las Vegas Fire & Rescue spokesman Tim Szymanski said the fire began at 4:50 p.m. at 616 Kenny Way, near Alta Drive and Valley View Boulevard. Responding firefighters encountered a "heavy fire" inside and called for backup assistance but soon got the flames under control.
Two of the three residents were home at the time but were able to escape unharmed with their pet dogs, Szymanski said.
Fire investigators don't yet know the estimated damage or cause of the blaze. Three people have been displaced.
