At least 40 people witnessed the shooting that killed 14-year-old Haji Mohamud after a party Saturday morning, but not one has stepped forward with information, Metro Police said. During a press conference Wednesday, Metro Police Lt. Ray Steiber pleaded for a parent, a party-goer, anybody with information about the shooting at the Sage Point apartment complex to contact police. “There are people out there — who were there — that know exactly what happened...and who killed a 14-year-old boy,” Steiber said. “There’s parents out there who may have overheard their children talking about what occurred that night...We’re asking for anybody ...

Not to worry...once obama's gun regulations get passed incident's like this will never happen again.
Disgusting. Same thing happened in N. Las Vegas at a party and not one person wants to talk. Call it in anonymously.
Post a reward and make it so you can remain annonamous and collect the money and they will get the info in a few minutes. These little scumbags will turn on each other as soon as they're in jail.
What is a 14 yr. old doing at a "party" at 1:30 a.m.
You lie with dogs you are going to get fleas.
dogs don't have fleas in vegas.
We had a similar situation occur here at a party in a predominately black neighborhood here Jacksonville last year.
At least two dozen people attending the 'party' had witnessed a man being shot and killed.
Police said that not only would anyone admit to seeing the murder, but several of the known witnesses had actuallyresponded by saying, "SNITCHES GETS STITCHES"...
So much for minorities having the courage to stand up for themselves. Until this societal cowardly behavior is stopped from within, nothing will change in the long run.
(Sorry all, but I hit the "Post" button before editing last comment.)

Not only did they continue to 'party' as if nothing had happened, but had it not been for a person calling the police to report that they had heard gunshots, the party would have probably gone on all night long.

These fools are protecting scumbags. I hope they realize that the scumbags they're protecting don't care about them and that they rat them out.
Why do they even bother to call the police?
The solution to this particular problem is easy to solve. It won't eliminate all of this type of violence, but it would eliminate a great deal, at least here in vegas.
.
Eliminate all section 8 housing immediately. Bulldoze all those low rent daily motels and projects as well under some sort of eminent domain and build something useful in its place. Perhaps some sort of job skills training institutions where those who aren't jobbing the system can actually develop into a more productive citizen. And as an aside, great parenting by those who let their child into some crack den at 2am.
Why would the attendees or parents come forward? They were all breaking the law to start with.
People who live in these neighborhoods have no where to run once they testify. They can't move or they would live somewhere else. They are scared. And for all the non thinking people who just blame it on a minority situation stop and think for a change.

@anchorbine:
You don't think this hasn't been tried in other cities with higher crime rates than Vegas? Not to mention - why punish others who happen to live in Section 8 housing and who do not live a life of crime? Scum doesn't necessarily live in Section 8 housing nor in low rent motels. Nor do they want to better themselves by getting job training. Don't be so naieve.

So true. If anyone comes forward, they might as well kiss their lives goodbye because they'll be the next ones shot.

Beyond stupid comment. Besides - isn't that the point of "gun regulation" - keeping the guns from the criminals, or at least, harder to get??
Invited to a party on social media--now that shows random stupidity when you attend such an event. Agree with Munchie on this one--eliminate Section 8 housing. People live their ENTIRE LIVES in taxpayer-funded housing. Any idea on what that does to a child--"growing up" in such an environment where Mom and neighbors think it's a good think and "reasonable" to expect the government to take care of him? And think of what this could do for the construction industry, the small contractors who aren't bidding on big government construction contracts but want to get back out there and BUILD small square footage housing.
Det_Munch your post about guns is odd beings that in Chicago you have the strictest gun laws yet more people were killed there than coalition troops in Afghanistan in 2012.

What testify? You call it in anonomously. 1-800 TIPS or whatever the number is. Call from a payphone (if you can find one). Then see if the cops can tie the shooter to the crime. The inner city community is doomed if they refuse to help themselves. This is the second time a young person has been gunned down in front of 20-40 witnesses. Both times, not a word. then people complain about the police?
Nobody talked when Stanley Gibson was gunned down and a bunch of cops were there.
